2020 Les Marrionniers Chablis
History
Les Marrionniers is a family-owned domaine that has been producing wines in Chablis for several generations. The estate maintains traditional winemaking practices while incorporating modern techniques to enhance quality and consistency. Their 2020 Chablis reflects the exceptional growing conditions of that vintage.
Manufacturing Method
Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and immediately pressed. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure expression of Chardonnay and terroir. The wine ages on fine lees for 8-12 months, adding texture and complexity while maintaining freshness. No oak is used in the process.
Origin
Produced in Chablis, Burgundy, France. The vineyards are planted on the region's characteristic Kimmeridgian limestone soils, rich in fossilized oyster shells, which contribute to the wine's distinct mineral character. The cool climate of northern Burgundy provides ideal conditions for growing Chardonnay.
Taste Profile
Displays classic Chablis characteristics with pronounced mineral notes, green apple, and citrus on the nose. The palate shows lean, precise flavors of lemon, white peach, and wet stone, with a distinctive saline quality. The finish is crisp and focused, with lingering chalky minerality.
